Packers Power Past Lions in Thanksgiving Thriller

In a Thanksgiving Day showdown that also doubled as a marquee division matchup, the Green Bay Packers visited Detroit and sent fans home disappointed with a 29-22 win over the Lions. The Packers win means that the last time Lions won a Thanksgiving Day Game was all the way back in 2016.

After jumping out to a 23-6 halftime lead, the Packers had to hold on to fight back a second half comeback by the Lions. Quarterback Jordan Love, who won the player of the game award, showed his mettle, throwing for 268 yards and three touchdowns, including a late third quarter touchdown to extend the lead back to 15.

But the story of the day was the Packers defense, who forced three turnovers, including a fumble recovery touchdown by safety Jonathan Owens and another forced fumble in the early fourth quarter with the Lions driving. The team later recovered an onside kick with under a minute left to effectively end the game.

With the win, the Packers now hold a 5-6 record that keeps them in the hunt for the NFC’s last playoff spot. Green Bay is next looking ahead to a difficult matchup on Sunday Night Football on December 3rd, as they welcome the 8-3 Kansas City Chiefs to Lambeau Field.
